As Christmas approaches, we are invited to take part in Light the World, a worldwide initiative in which we celebrate the Savior’s birth through acts of service and simple kindness.
As Latter-day Saints for Life, we encourage you to think about how the story of Christmas extends directly to pro-life work. The Savior was born into the world as an innocent baby and taught us that “inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40).
One way of following the Savior’s commandment to serve our fellow men is by participating in pro-life work, whether that be directly serving mothers in need or spreading the pro-life message.
To make it easy, we have compiled ten pro-life ways to Light the World!
Serve a pregnant woman or single mom in your ward!
Decide what you can offer and what she might need! Maybe you can shovel the snow, offer to babysit children, do yardwork, or deliver a meal to her.

Teach your family about the sanctity of life using one of our home evening guides.
Although we can sometimes feel that our efforts are small, we want to remind and encourage you that your efforts with your family and children make a difference! Parents: Are You Making a Difference? Survey Says…
Get trained as a sidewalk advocate for life.
If you've ever prayed outside of an abortion clinic, becoming trained as a sidewalk advocate for life is the next step. Sidewalk Advocates for Life offers an independent training on crisis intervention through a peaceful, law-abiding approach. Another option is the Equal Rights Institute, which offers both an Equipped for Life Course and a Sidewalk Counseling Masterclass.
Hold a diaper drive for your local pregnancy resource center.
Find your local pregnancy resource center at https://optionline.org/center-locator! (And watch this short video to see one way to do this.)
Learn and share about abortion pill reversal.
It’s as easy as making a social media post telling people that it is available and adding the link, abortionpillreversal.com. Most abortions these days are done via the abortion pill. You never know who might find themselves in this situation.

Gather with your ward, friends, or family to sing Christmas carols outside your local abortion facility.
Be kind and law-abiding. As a bonus, come prepared to refer people to latterdaysaintsforlife.org/pregnancy-resources and to abortionpillreversal.com.
Write thank-you notes to your local pregnancy resource center staff and volunteers.
Our local pregnancy resource center workers give so much of themselves, and we can encourage them to keep up with hope and optimism. See how one YSA group did this: Cheap and Easy Pro-Life Service Project (That You Can Copy in Your Ward or Family.
Pray to end abortion.
You can pray on the sidewalk outside the abortion clinics, or you can pray in your closet. The Lord hears the prayers of the righteous and will bless you for your faith and good desires.
Donate to a pro-life organization.
There are many great options to choose from, with many honorable scopes and missions, and your dollars can literally save lives. (We hope you will also consider becoming a donor for Latter-day Saints for Life!)
Share our Resources for Pregnant Women with your ward leaders.
If someone ever comes forward with an unexpected pregnancy, those leaders should be equipped with knowledge and resources to offer her. When women know they have support, they are more often empowered to choose life! (If you can, print out a few copies in color to provide to your bishop, Relief Society President, and Young Women President!)
Bonus: Sign up as a Latter-day Saint for Life, and invite a friend to join you.
You will become part of a worldwide community, where you can feel supported and encouraged as you learn more about the pro-life issue and ways you can get involved in saving lives.

We know that as you participate in pro-life work, the Lord will see your efforts and the desires of your heart.
Merry Christmas! Let us know what you’re going to try! <3
