As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to serve and support others, especially those facing difficult decisions. One simple yet powerful way we can help preserve life is by supporting pregnancy resource centers (PRCs), which provide critical services to women facing unplanned pregnancies. Recently, a Young Single Adult (YSA) ward in Utah put together a thoughtful and easy pro-life service project that anyone can replicate. Here’s how they did it—and how you can get involved, too.
What Is a Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC)?
Pregnancy resource centers are nonprofit organizations that provide free, life-affirming services to women in crisis pregnancies. They typically offer medical care like free ultrasounds, counseling, baby supplies, adoption referrals, and more. Many PRCs operate from a Christian perspective, offering love and support to women who may be considering abortion or struggling with the pressures of an unplanned pregnancy.
Sadly, those who volunteer and work at PRCs often face criticism and hostility. Despite this, they continue to serve with Christlike love, helping women choose life for their children. That’s why we need to show them our support!
The Project: Thank-You Cards for Pregnancy Resource Centers
The YSA Relief Society created thank-you cards for five different PRCs across Utah. These cards were filled with words of encouragement and gratitude for the work PRCs do in serving women and saving lives.
Why Thank-You Cards?
Sadly, many of the women and men who serve at PRCs receive anger and retaliation from abortion workers and supporters, pro-abortion political action groups, and others. Some say PRCs "take advantage of women" or "take away their bodily autonomy," when in reality those who donate, volunteer, and work there offer women real options by empowering them with free help.
These cards let them know they are appreciated and that their Christlike service has not gone unnoticed.
Thank-you cards are a simple thing, but we know they were seen and appreciated by the Lord. It's just bonus to receive confirmation that it made a difference to the people who got them, too!—as the YSA ward discovered by this response from one of hte PRCs:

How You Can Replicate This Project in Your Community
Creating a service project that supports PRCs is easier than you think. Here’s how you can organize a similar project with your family, Relief Society, elders quorum, or youth group:
1. Connect with a Local Pregnancy Resource Center
Start by finding a pregnancy resource center near you. Many PRCs are listed on websites like Option Line or the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates. If you’re unsure, you can also ask around your community or even at church for local recommendations:
How to Find a Pregnancy Resource Center Near You
Finding a pregnancy resource center in your area is simple:
Option Line – Visit https://www.optionline.org/ to find a local center.
National Institute of Family and Life Advocates – https://www.nifla.org/find-a-center/ can help you find pro-life pregnancy centers.
Church Networks** – Ask members of your congregation or other local churches for recommendations.
Pro Tip: Most PRCs are always in need of donations, whether it’s supplies, financial support, or even volunteer hours. Consider offering ongoing support after your project.
2. Organize Your Group
Whether you're working with a youth group, Relief Society, or your family, gather your group to start the project. Choose a date and decide on the number of cards to make.
To prepare, gather supplies for making the thank-you cards:
* Cardstock
* Markers, pens, and other decorating tools
* Stamps and envelopes
3. Create the Cards
Have a fun card-making night where everyone in your group can create their own personalized messages. Encourage heartfelt, loving messages, expressing gratitude and acknowledging the important work of PRC volunteers and staff.
PRO TIP: In the cards, consider including scriptures or messages from Church leaders regarding the sanctity of life as found on our Doctrinal Library! As inspiration, you might also want to share a short lesson or message with your service group using some of the doctrine found there.
4. Deliver the Cards
Once the cards are ready, deliver them to your chosen PRCs, either in-person or in the mail. Either way, you are going to make their day!
PRO TIP: Consider including a note with a small financial donation or other practical items, such as baby supplies or diapers, if you feel led to do so.
5. Spread the Word
To amplify the impact of your project, share it on social media or invite others in your congregation to get involved. You can post pictures of your thank-you cards and inspire other wards, families, and youth groups to do the same.

How You Can Help Right Now
Inspired by this project? Here are three easy ways you can make a difference today:
1. Start your own thank-you card campaign for a local PRC, just like the YSA ward did!
2. Donate to a pregnancy resource center in your area. Even a small contribution can make a big difference.
3. Share this post with friends, family, or your church group, and encourage others to get involved in preserving life.
Together, we can be part of a movement that supports life and shows love to those who are doing the hard work of serving women and families in need.
Conclusion
Whether it’s writing thank-you cards, donating time or resources, or simply spreading awareness, there are countless ways you can participate in pro-life service.
Just like this YSA ward’s Relief Society, your group can make a lasting impact in your community. Remember, every effort—no matter how small—helps build a culture of life. Let’s work together to show our love for both mothers and their children, in keeping with the Savior’s command to love one another.
“God cherishes life. It is His work and His glory to bring immortality and eternal life to His children. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we cherish life. 'By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.' May we share our love even more abundantly with those who need us so desperately. I express my love for you and our Heavenly Father’s love for His children coming to earth.”* – Elder Neil L. Andersen
