Jesus Christ Beats Abortion: Easter Message

Abortion can seem like the ultimate win for Satan.
With every abortion comes the tragic, violent death of a child. His or her whole future on earth is lost. The place that baby would have filled in the mother's and father's life leaves behind a gaping spiritual wound that often festers with deep regret and sorrow.
All this, combined with the sheer numbers of abortion (73 million per year), merits and even demands our somber attention and mourning. But it does not merit wallowing in surrender.
Abortion would be a victory for Satan, if not for Christ.
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe in the Resurrection and Atonement of Jesus Christ.
"The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the proof that He, in fact, possesses power to redeem all who will come unto Him—redeem them from sorrow, injustice, regret, sin, and even death."
- Elder D. Todd Christoffersen, "Sharing the Message of the Restoration and the Resurrection", April 2020

Because of His victory over death, abortion will lose. It has already lost. Today, now, we can find peace and hope in the knowledge that every child of God will live again, and that God has a plan for families.
We know that that child's one chance at life wasn’t the end.
There are things we don't know about how the Resurrection and the Atonement of Jesus Christ applies to preborn children. But we do know that God loves all His children, with a perfect love, and that He has mercifully provided a way for each of them to return to Him.
And we certainly have hope for redemption for those who are guilty of abortion, as the Church Handbook now reads:
"A person who seeks forgiveness with 'godly sorrow' (2 Corinthians 7:10; see also 3 Nephi 9:20) and 'full purpose of heart' (3 Nephi 18:32) may repent and be forgiven for the sin of abortion."
Because of Jesus Christ, we can face the challenges with confidence and faith knowing Whose work we are doing. Jesus Christ declared that He is the light and the life of the world. We learn in Preach My Gospel that: "All that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ."
He is risen! Jesus Christ has won!
Happy Easter.
