At its conception, the 2024 Latter-day Saints for Life Worldwide Conference was not intended to feature much music. However, thanks to divine intervention and inspiration, several songs were added, including original, rewritten, and cover songs.
We pray that these words touch many more hearts and even change—and save—lives.
"Precious Little Baby" - original song by Janeen Brady
Precious little baby you’re starting to grow. Helpless angel baby, you need me I know. There’s a place on earth that only you can fill. Trust me, I’ll be faithful to you, I will.
Precious little baby, I’ll help you to thrive. Doing all I can till you safely arrive. Fiercely I’ll protect you as we await your birth. For, we need our angel babies on the earth.
Life is a miracle, greatest we know. Life is a miracle, life makes things grow. Trees and flowers, birds, and bees. Butterflies fill the skies, fish the seas.
Babies are miracles, sometimes unplanned. But, you little miracle, are safe in my hands. I will get us through, find the best for you. Little baby please understand.
"Esperando a Nacer" - by Pancho Puelma
Hoy todo puedo sentir / Right now I can feel everything,
Puedo reir, / I can laugh,
No se ni pensar ni hablar / and I don’t know how to think or to speak,
Mas soy feliz, / But I am happy.
No tengo frio ni calor / I don’t feel cold, or hot.
Todo va bien y creciendo estoy / Everything is going well, and I am growing.
No tengo hambre ni precupación / I’m not hungry, and I don’t have any cares,
Y siento un gran amor / And I feel a great love.
Y de esta divinidad tendré que partir / I will have to leave this special place.
Mi padre y mi madre están esperandome / My father and my mother are waiting for me.Tienen ideas para mí / They have plans for me,
Que yo quisiera todas compartir / which I would like to share.
Más hoy presiento que estaría bien / But I feel like it would be fine
Que me quedara aquí. / If I could just stay right here!
CORO / CHORUS:
Será un ingeniero dice el abuelo, / “Maybe he’ll be an engineer,” says Grandpa.
Un gran arquitecto sería perfecto, / “Or a great architect – that would be perfect!
Y si es un artista que horror un bohemio, / What if he’s an artist, or worse: a hippie?
Mejor una niña que cumpla mis sueños, / I’d rather have a little girl, to make my dreams come true.
Que siga la huella de Jesús nazare / Someone who follows in the footsteps of Jesus of Nazareth.
No no mejor empresario será millonario, / No – maybe he’ll be a businessman, a millionaire,
Un doctor famoso un físico loco / A famous doctor, or a mad scientist.”
Y yo solo quiero aprender a respirar. / But I just want to learn to breathe.
Y ahora que la hora llega, / And now that the time has come to leave,
La de partir a todos los que me esperan / I’m going to say to everyone who is waiting for me:
Voy a decir quiero reir, cantar, jugar, / “I want to laugh, to sing, to play,
Sentir el mar y también llorar, / to feel, to love, and to cry.”
Por eso siento que estaría bien / That’s why I feel like it would be fine
Que me quedara aquí / If I could just stay right here!
CORO / CHORUS
Y yo solo quiero aprender a respirar / But I just want to learn to breathe.
"Unplanned" - by Matthew West
I'm looking at a masterpiece
I'm staring at a work of art
I'm listening to a symphony
In every beat of your tiny heart
You used to be a choice to make
But now I think you've chosen me
'Cause I see ten fingers, ten toes
Two eyes and I know this is meant to be
Oh I don't believe in accidents
Miracles, they don't just happen by chance
As long as my God holds the world in His hands
I know that there's no such thing as unplanned
Broken turns to beautiful
I see you right before my eyes
And every single breath you breathe
Is destiny love has brought to life
I thought it was my story's end
But now the future's all I see
Instead of asking who you might've been
I'm wondering who you're gonna be
'Cause I don't believe in accidents
Miracles, they don't just happen by chance
As long as my God holds the world in His hands
I know that there's no such thing as unplanned
Every life deserves a voice
Every child deserves a chance
You are more than just a choice
There's no such thing as unplanned
Every life deserves a voice
Every child deserves a chance
You are more than just a choice
There's no such thing as unplanned
Every life deserves a voice
Every child deserves a chance
You are more than just a choice
'Cause there's no such thing as unplanned
"Dearest Children, God Is Near You" (For Preborn and Aborted Children) - new lyrics by Jessica Spackman (original lyrics by Charles L. Walker)
Dearest children, God is near you
Watching o’er you day and night,
And delights to own and bless you,
For you strive to do what’s right.
He will bless you,
He will bless you,
As you’ve put your trust in him.
Dearest children, someone remembers
Who you were, and who you are
Father knows what you so wanted
And for which you’ve come so far.
He’s your Father,
He’s your Father,
He still watches you here on earth.
Dearest children, your life matters
Every heartbeat, every day.
If your days are short or long here,
We are blessed because you came.
You are faithful,
You are faithful,
To your Heavenly Parents dear.
Dearest children, Jesus will lead you
Through the darkness to the light.
He will never leave his young ones
But will hold them through the night.
He has saved you,
He has saved you,
You will have eternal life.
"Don't Let Go" - original song by Susan Edwards
I am but a promise if kept in fertile ground
Of sacred living energy, where mysteries abound
Yet the world is scornful and says that I am flawed
I wilt, but then remember, I am a work of God
CHORUS:
So, DON’T LET GO, DON’T LET GO
Help me flourish, let me grow
Though winds may blow and floods may flow
DON’T LET GO, DON’T LET GO
To everything there is a season to blossom and mature
A time when harvest is apparent and blessings are made sure
But now I’m very vulnerable—it’s by divine design
So, hold me, help me, nourish me until it is my time
CHORUS
I’m a tender mercy, a gift that grows with care
When tended by your faithful hands and watered well with prayer
You are now my gardener, plant me deep in sod
For what you help me someday be…
Becomes your gift to God
CHORUS
